Celebrating 35 Years Service from our Foreman Stephen

This week, our workshop foreman celebrated the significant milestone of THIRTY FIVE years with the business.

Starting as a trainee in 1990, Steve has experienced all the highs and lows of the past 35 years and now oversees our production.

Thank you Stephen for your dedication, hard work and commitment to producing high quality products.

Bespoke Cooling Package for 2 Engines in a Tight Space

Broadland Radiators are pleased to complete a truly bespoke cooling package where the customer needed a solution to cool 2 engines within an application that has no room for traditional air blast radiators and was ridiculously tight on space.

Our solution was to mount local heat exchangers onto a skid that could sit between both engines to cool each engine. Each engine consisted of 2 cooling circuits.

We then added an electric pump so the heat exchanger’s coolant could be pumped to a remote radiator.

We were able to select a single electric pump for both engines’ heat exchangers.

We manufactured a skid, including drip trays and pump mounting for the customer to have the simplest installation job possible.

We completed the scope of supply with pipework from the heat exchanger to the engine connections, again, simplifying our customer’s installation work.

All delivered on time and on budget.

Here is the finished product and the drawing showing how we designed it.

2024 in Recap and Happy New Year for 2025

Broadland Radiators and Heat Exchangers would like to wish all of our customers, colleagues and suppliers a very Merry Christmas, and we look forward to working with you all in 2025. Here is some highlights of Broadland Radiators 2024 –

Supporting East Anglian Air Ambulance

We are sorry if you were looking forward to a festive card from us this year, but instead the money we would have spent on Christmas Cards has been donated to a great cause – the East Anglian Air Ambulance – to support the work they do across the Eastern Counties and beyond.

Norwich Wildcats & Acle United

In 2024 Broadland Radiators was delighted to continue our support of Norwich Wildcats rugby team with a set of subs coats… as well as contributing to keeping The Acle United u14s football team warm!

Green Energy

2024 was also the year we hit some milestones on our journey to net zero, starting with the positive impact of our solar panels.

Covrad Milestones

2024 was also the year we delivered our 50th COVRAD style remote heat exchanger, as well as our 100th COVRAD radiator.

Broadland Radiators is proud to work with the API group as their service agent in the UK, able to support and maintain all types of COVRAD products in service.

As Christmas approaches we have decided to direct the money we would have spent on cards to East Anglian Air Ambulance – a charity we also support through their weekly lottery which is here: Play our lottery – East Anglian Air Ambulance

Radiator change out in tight space

We took a call from a customer in West Norfolk who had an unsolvable problem.

They had a radiator fitted to a generator set with almost no room around it requiring an urgent repair – but no way to move the engine or louvres to be able to access the radiator.

Works Manager Jamie attended the site to understand the limitations. Limited overhead space for lifting and almost no space to the front and rear of the radiator to access the leaking unit as well as only limited space to the side.

Fortunately Jamie was able to offer some expertise on pipe modifications and lifting equipment to come up with a solution that included a gradual deconstruction of the full radiator, followed by a rebuild.

Given the age of the radiator (first built by Covrad around 20 years ago) the decision was made to replace all cooling elements which – thanks to our status as the exclusive service agent for Covrad/API product in the UK – Broadland Radiators was able to manufacture as per the same original specification.

Our team then completed a rebuild having overseen the installation of some additional overhead lifting equipment from our Offshore Services equipment.

Final pressure testing in situ completed the project and the customer is back up and running having had the unsolvable problem dealt with by Broadland Radiators and Heat Exchangers Limited.

Minimising our impact on the environment

In March 2023 we had solar panels installed at our premises, our recent ISO14001 successful audit illustrated the impact on the environment they have had in this time.
