We took a call from a customer in West Norfolk who had an unsolvable problem.
They had a radiator fitted to a generator set with almost no room around it requiring an urgent repair – but no way to move the engine or louvres to be able to access the radiator.
Works Manager Jamie attended the site to understand the limitations. Limited overhead space for lifting and almost no space to the front and rear of the radiator to access the leaking unit as well as only limited space to the side.
Fortunately Jamie was able to offer some expertise on pipe modifications and lifting equipment to come up with a solution that included a gradual deconstruction of the full radiator, followed by a rebuild.
Given the age of the radiator (first built by Covrad around 20 years ago) the decision was made to replace all cooling elements which – thanks to our status as the exclusive service agent for Covrad/API product in the UK – Broadland Radiators was able to manufacture as per the same original specification.
Our team then completed a rebuild having overseen the installation of some additional overhead lifting equipment from our Offshore Services equipment.
Final pressure testing in situ completed the project and the customer is back up and running having had the unsolvable problem dealt with by Broadland Radiators and Heat Exchangers Limited.
